Join East Anglia’s “State Secondary School of the Year” 2024.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the UK’s leading comprehensive schools. We are looking for a proactive, firm and compassionate person to join our fantastic team of pastoral support staff. A positive outlook, ability to work as part of a team and a determination for students to succeed will be essential attributes.
Impington Village College has achieved consistently excellent outcomes for the last five years. With a truly comprehensive intake, student progress is regularly in the top 5% of all non-selective schools in the country, and the College has now been voted by the Sunday Times Parent Power as one of the top three comprehensive schools in the UK for two years running. In 2020 it was also voted East Anglia’s State Secondary School of the Year. Student attainment is exceptionally high, with 15% of all grades at Grade 9, 43% at 7-9 (or equivalent) and 85% of grades at 4-9.
At IVC, care for our students’ mental health and wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do, and we are proud to offer access to a range of specialist services. We were one of the first secondary schools in the country to be awarded the prestigious Gold Carnegie Medal for mental health, testament to the support we are able to offer students and staff.
Our innovative Pastoral Hub comprises a variety of spaces, including an alternative provision unit, pastoral referral room and wellbeing space, to bring all aspects of student support together in the heart of the College. Our staff work very closely together to give our students the best possible support, sharing best practice and ensuring that students can succeed regardless of their circumstances. You can expect to work with students with all kinds of pastoral needs, from mental health and anxiety, medical needs, special educational needs and those accessing alternative provision.
We are committed to offering a full package of training for staff, based on their interests and development needs. This could include completing Designated Safeguarding Lead training, a Masters qualification or pursuing other areas based on the successful candidate’s aspirations.
As part of the Eastern Learning Alliance, we can also offer you:
- the chance to work in a Flexible Working Ambassador School, where innovative approaches to work are championed and family life is fully supported, and wellbeing is a priority for all
- excellent career pathway opportunities with a culture of looking to promote from within, including responsibility across the Trust
- support to undertake further study, funded by the College (including up to £1000 towards Masters fees)
- subsidised access to the ELA’s sports centre leisure facilities and adult education classes available for use before, during and after the College day.
