Take the lead in team excellence and community impact.

We’re looking for a dynamic, motivated Assistant Manager to join our team and help lead the operational excellence of our sports centres. This is a key leadership position designed for someone passionate about people, safety, and service – ready to bridge the gap between strategic management and daily delivery.

Why join us?

ELA Active offers more than just a job. You’ll gain the opportunity to lead a high-performing leisure team, drive service improvements, and make a positive impact on the community – all within a collaborative and values-driven organisation. We believe in development, inclusion, and innovation.

Why ELA Active?

Working at ELA Active means more than just a job – it’s an opportunity to make a real impact in your community while building a fulfilling career. We provide high-quality facilities, professional development pathways, and a collaborative working culture that values initiative, reliability, and team spirit.

As Duty Manager, you will play a vital role in staff supervision, health and safety, and customer experience. You’ll work alongside our Assistant Managers and Shift Leaders, taking ownership of key areas such as pool plant operations, emergency response, event coordination, and safeguarding – all while maintaining a strong customer-first approach.

As Assistant Manager, you will:

  • Support and supervise front-line teams including Duty Managers, Shift Leaders, and Lifeguards.
  • Ensure smooth daily operations, from shift scheduling to customer engagement.
  • Deliver high safety and cleanliness standards across all sites.
  • Lead on compliance, training, safeguarding, and risk management.
  • Play a key role in driving membership growth and supporting marketing efforts.
  • Act as a bridge between operational delivery and strategic goals.
  • Respond to incidents and manage emergency procedures confidently.
  • Provide cover for Duty Managers and hold key responsibilities for opening/closing sites.
  • Work flexibly across all ELA Active facilities to ensure consistent service standards.

What we’re looking for:

  • A qualified and active RLSS National Pool Lifeguard, First Aid at Work and National Pool Plant Operators qualification.
  • Strong team leadership and staff development skills
  • Experience in managing health & safety, safeguarding, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • A proactive, flexible, and customer-focused mindset
  • Experience in leisure operations, ideally in a multi-site environment

What we offer:

  • Full training and ongoing professional development
  • Free use of sports centre facilities
  • Comprehensive employee benefits scheme
  • On-site parking
  • The opportunity to influence and shape community health and wellbeing.

If you are enthusiastic, reliable, and eager to grow within a professional sports and leisure environment, we would be delighted to hear from you.
